Rationale of the use of Archaeato deplete TMA in the intestine / pTMAO in plasma
Archaebiotics, bio-remediation of intestinal TMA
One of the most promising concept would be to convert TMA once it has been synthesised by gut microbes and before it is absorbed, which would avoid the question of diet / N-methyl compounds supply. Also, this would have impact on either FMO3 deficient subjects (less / no TMA in body fluids) and on level of pTMAO. There are no known natural bacterial metabolism (in anaerobia / without oxygen) / bacteria which can achieve this. However, some archaea, some naturally-occuring in the human gut, can convert TMA.
